Fantasy Football Pet Peeves Are Simply A Sign That We Care

Cooterdoodle drops by to remind us that maybe our biggest pet peeves are really just a sign that we care.

I used to take it personally, y'know.

All of the fantasy football transgressions committed by my leaguemates. Sometimes they were small, but the ripple effects were wide. And yeah, I used to take it all personally.

When a leaguemate backed out of a trade.

When a leaguemate backed out of the league. After the f*cking draft.

When someone shared a screenshot of my trade offer in the group chat.

I used to take it all personally.

When the group chat commented negatively on my trade.

When the group chat commented positively on anyone else's trade.

When the group chat never cared enough to comment on a trade at all.

When someone didn't fulfill a league punishment.

When someone didn't fulfill a side bet.

When no one was brave enough to agree to a side bet in the first place.

I used to take that sh*t personally.

When a rule was changed because someone didn’t like how I was playing the game.

When two leaguemates negotiated a trade before I had the chance to offer my own side.

When the league champion didn't care to showcase our trophy in their home, leaving it to sit, hiding in a closet.

When a commissioner didn't enforce a rule.

When someone says their favorite league is any league other than the one we are currently in.

I used to take it personally.

I still do. But I used to, too.

We all take it personally. Because we care.

Don't believe me? Here's what a few of my friends had to say about it:

If we didn't care, we wouldn't care at all. We'd let everything slide. We'd turn a blind eye. But no, we want our leagues to matter.

So, get your sh*t together and stop with the pet peeves.
